Welzo product reviews
Welzo blood test reviews
Home blood tests are Welzo's most reviewed health service, and the feedback splits cleanly: strong on price and convenience, weaker on turnaround when anything in the postal chain slips.
How the test works
A finger-prick kit arrives by post, you take the sample at home, and it goes back to a UK laboratory in the supplied return envelope. Results come through an online account, usually with reference ranges beside each marker.
The most popular panels
- General health and blood count
- Thyroid function
- Vitamin D, B12 and iron
- Testosterone and hormone panels
- Cholesterol and diabetes markers
What reviewers praise
- Cost against private clinic pricing for the same markers.
- No appointment needed and no time off work.
- Clear reference ranges alongside each result.
- Fast results when the sample reaches the lab midweek.
What reviewers criticise
Turnaround time
The advertised window starts when the lab receives the sample, not when you post it. A sample posted on Friday can lose three days before processing even begins. This single misunderstanding causes a large share of the negative reviews.
Insufficient samples
The most common reason for a re-test. Warm hands, a tube filled to the line, and taking the sample within a few minutes of the prick solve nearly all of it.
Interpreting borderline results
A number outside a reference range is not a diagnosis. Reviewers who wanted a clinician to talk them through a result sometimes found the written report alone too thin — take any abnormal result to your GP.
How to get a clean result first time
- Register the kit before you take the sample.
- Post Monday to Wednesday, never Friday or before a bank holiday.
- Fast beforehand only where the test instructions ask for it.
- Warm your hand under hot water for a minute to get a proper flow.
- Use the first-class return envelope supplied, same day.
Verdict
For price and convenience, the reviews are strongly positive. The failure mode is almost always the post and the sample, not the laboratory — and both are largely in your control.
